The St Andrews range from Taylors, offers true reflections of terroir. Sourced from single vineyards, these wines exemplify the very best of handcrafted Clare Valley winemaking. The 2019 is complex and elegant, offering rich fruit characters of cassis and blackcurrant with earthy nuances. French oak giving hints of cedar and tobacco to finish.
This Cabernet Sauvignon exudes enticing aromas of ripe blackcurrants, subtle spices, and a touch of eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine presents a harmonious blend of blackcurrant notes and oak characters of cedar and tobacco, with a powerful yet delicate varietal character. Supple tannins and a persistent finish delivers a sophisticated tasting experience. The wine underwent a period of extended skin contact before being barrel-aged for 18 months in 33% new and 2-3 year old French oak to complete the secondary malolactic fermentation. The 2019 vintage in the Clare Valley was characterized by low winter and spring rainfall, with some frost and hail events that affected yields. Despite extreme weather, the vines showed resilience, and the resulting wines boast good acidity and excellent color, as well as intense flavors.
